Micah Nilsson

Director

Micah Nilsson knows Bakersfield is great! He is a former Highland High Scot and now a Liberty Patriot parent. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Nilsson worked in Bakersfield selling insurance, at Valley Yellow Pages, American Fence Company, the Civic Auditorium, as a whitewater river guide with River’s End Rafting and Kern River Tours, and as a lifeguard for the Bakersfield City pools at MLK, Jastro, and Silver Oak parks.

Mr. Nilsson received degrees in English and Psychology, Summa Cum Laude, with minors in Spanish and Organizational Psychology, from a private university in Hawaii. Thereafter, Mr. Nilsson enrolled in a PhD program in Organizational Behavior and Coaching before deciding to pursue a law degree instead. Mr. Nilsson received his law degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law and was admitted to the California State Bar in 2007. In addition to serving as a Director of the KCBA, Mr. Nilsson is a Director for Legacy Family Services and a member of the CSUB Pre-Law Advisory Board.

Mr. Nilsson is a partner with Zimmer & Melton, LLP, with a diverse practice assisting both large and entrepreneurial, public entity and private business clients in civil litigation, employment law and transactional matters. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Mr. Nilsson’s practice brings a creative approach to avoid litigation when possible and win litigation when other resolutions can’t be reached.

Recent cases include complex business litigation, anti-trust and unfair business claims, contract disputes, real estate, construction defects, intellectual property infringement and tort litigation (including wrongful death, unsafe public property, catastrophic injury from design defect, and negligence claims).

Prior to joining Zimmer & Melton, Mr. Nilsson was the managing shareholder of the Bakersfield office of Fennemore Dowling Aaron and sat as the Co-Chair of the firm’s Oil, Gas and Energy Practice Group. Prior to returning to Bakersfield, Mr. Nilsson worked in Lozano Smith’s Monterey office.

Having lived in Monterey, Davis, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Chile, Utah, Idaho and Hawaii, Mr. Nilsson is proud to call Bakersfield home and is excited to be part of the community’s growth. Most weekends he can be found in the surrounding hills, mountains and deserts hiking, spelunking, mountain biking, off roading, and enjoying the spectacular destinations surrounding Bakersfield with his wife, Cheryl, and their three boys (Jaden, Beckam and Asher).
